My father also had ankylosing spondylitis, with every conceivable complication. He fought is every day of his life, from the age of 13.  In his 50s he still crewed a yacht in the Cape to Rio race.  I just wanted to tell you that you have the same positive attitude.  I know you are going to keep this down.  There are the painful days, but there are lots of days you will feel better.  Just keep moving.
